More to explore: STEP4NAMs EDUCATE submodules are live

The first Sub-Modules of STEP4NAMs EDUCATE are now available. Building on the Core Module, the programme continues with a series of modules focusing on key New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and their application in research and innovation. The training combines a variety of lectures delivered by experts from the STEP4NAMs consortium as well as additional renowned specialists in the field. Each submodule provides targeted insights into specific technologies and supports participants in developing practical skills and application strategies.

Sub-Module 1: Organ-on-Chip Systems (Coming soon)

A dedicated module on Organ-on-Chip technologies is currently in development and will be released soon.

Sub-Module 2: Organoids

This module introduces organoid technologies as advanced in vitro models that replicate human tissue functions. Participants gain a structured understanding of how organoids can be applied in disease modelling and R&D, including:

  • generation and use of organoid-based models
  • applications in personalised medicine and biomedical research
  • overview of current technologies and application fields
  • project planning and experimental design
  • ethical and regulatory considerations
  • future developments in complex organoid systems

Sub-Module 3: Digital Twin

This module focuses on digital twins as computational models that simulate biological systems. It combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on elements, covering:

  • use of healthcare data and regulatory considerations
  • introduction to MATLAB and digital twin environments
  • fundamentals of mathematical modelling
  • machine learning concepts and applications
  • data processing and model validation

Sub-Module 4: Benchtop Simulations

This module explores the use of bioprinting and simulation systems in preclinical testing, with a focus on medical device development. Key topics include:

  • preclinical evaluation processes and NAM integration
  • safety, efficacy, and regulatory requirements
  • design control and risk management
  • bench-top test systems and validation
  • vascular models, imaging technologies, and simulation tools

Access to Further Opportunities – ENABLE Programme

Opening now:  Application for On-Site Training on 17 June 2026 at Atlantic Technological University (Ireland).
Completing the Core Module and the Sub-Module 4: Benchtop Simulations makes your company eligible for one STEP4NAMs ENABLE programme. ENABLE supports MedTech SMEs in putting their knowledge of NAMs into practice – through tailored support and hands-on experience on 17 June 2026 at Atlantic Technological University.

For the 2026 call:

  • Applicants must have completed the Core Module by the time of application
  • Sub-Module 4: Benchtop Simulations must be completed before the on-site training takes place

Further information will follow soon.
